Working With Religious Congregations: A Guide for Health Professionals

Churches and other houses of worship can play an important role in promoting better cardiovascular health. Church-based programs reach people who may not receive accurate information about cardiovascular disease at other sites or by other methods. This guide teaches health professionals and community organizations how to work with clergy and lay leaders to develop, start, and maintain health activities for their congregations. Also provides information on how to contact and recruit churches, train volunteers, sustain momentum, and monitor and evaluate a church-based program.

Certified health education specialists (CHES) may receive 3 credit hours in category 1 by reading the Guide and completing a quiz.
